The Triumph 2000 was introduced in 1964 as four door saloon,
fitted with a straight six engine fitted with twin Stromberg carburettors
and was offered with a choice of manual or automatic transmition.
The estate car built by carbodies was introduced in 1965.
The 2.5 PI sports saloon was introduced in 1968 and was fitted
with bosch mechanical fuel injection and was offered in both saloon
and estate car form. In 1969 the mark two version was introduced
with revised front and rearend styling.
The 2500 model featuring twin SU carburettors was introduced
in 1974 and was soon
superseded by the 2500TC fitted with larger carburettors. The
range was also facelifted in 1974
and changes included a plastic grill and revised trim. The 2000
was fitted with SU carburettors instead of strombergs and called
the 2000TC.
In 1975 the 2500s model was introduced to replace the 2.5 PI
model and featured SU carbs, stag type alloy wheels, power steering
and sundym tinted class as standard. The range was phased out
in 1977 to make way for the Rover
SD1 range.
Today the 2000 range makes an ideal practical and reliable family
classic.
